Industry Deals & Moves - September 2025

Barry Drillman dodged prison this summer and immediately cashed out his nursing home portfolio for $55 million. Some say he was a front man for Baruch Gottesman. Sold 16 facilities to Nathan Treitel, who bought them under an LLC called "Sweet Sixteen" (lol?). Treitel borrowed $57 million from Deutsche Bank to buy a $55 million portfolio, which is either genius or insanity depending on how you feel about leverage. Word is Barry might stick around as a minority partner. Nothing says "quality healthcare leadership" like keeping the guy who just beat fraud charges involved in your nursing home operations.

Meanwhile, everyone's still waiting to see if Chuny Herzka's Centers deal actually happens or if it's just another rumor that never closes. I heard from reliable sources that Chuny did start closing on homes and that Centers will be offloading to him in waves. Also word is going around that Chuny is looking to sell Aliya his drug rehab empire with about 1400 beds across the country comprised of in patient and outpatient for about 100 million bucks. Nice round number why not.

In other news Shlomy Chops apparently decided to move on from 6 homes in Wisconsin and they were snatched up by Isaac Rami, Aharon Franco and Steve Reider of Oxford Valley Healthcare (why oxford - someone close to them plz ask them).

Also heard from chavra chavra that Ronnie Wilhelm - the quiet kingpin of the Jewish snf world who likely has the most snfs - is selling half of his PA homes. I guess even the great Ronnie could not make the math work in PA.

Norman Rokeach has been killing it with Marquis Healthcare. They seem to be a very well run professional company that is growing in leaps and bounds. Word is he is about to close on selling SNF Metrics his data spinoff. Lots of operators have told me they'd like to use it but don't want Norman having data on their homes. Anyway we wish you mazal Norman. Hope you enjoy throwing more bundles of cash on top of your other bundles! I love seeing smart Yiddin raking it in.

Jacob Kohn partners with Meir Birnbaum on Vita - another well run professional company growing in spades is getting married this monday sep 1. I think he's 32 years old. When are we going to see a yiddishe 25 year old with 38 snfs? It's coming I promise you.

Meanwhile I know a guy who was running 6 homes as a minority operating partner and all was well. Then the larger partners decide they want to sell and boom he's out scrambling for a job. He could not find a partnership and eventually had to go look for an interim job as a administrator again. A few weeks after he starts interviewing for administrator jobs he gets approached by a guy looking to throw insane amounts of money into snfs and a few months later he is running over 50 homes. The SNF world is truly insane and maybe that's we all love it and hate it.

Legacy ran by Yair Weinstock is going bankrupt. He apparently bought this portfolio for 212 million a few years ago after Lionstone passed on it. Abba and Ari guess this was a good one to sit out on!
